mondale Norwegian Americans Look Ahead to 2005 Commemorative Gift to Celebrate Centennial of Independent Norway. -On October 23, former Vice President Walter F. Mondale (pictured left, photo by Kristoffer Ronneberg/News of Norway)once again represented the American people - the Norwegian American people, in particular. In preparation for the 100th anniversary of Norway's formation as an independent country in l905, Mondale outlined the Norwegian American Foundation's plans for celebration and dramatic gifts to the people of Norway from the American people.

Petersen 2003 US Norway Forum meeting held in Minneapolis October 24th- The US Norway Forum held its 2003 meeting in Minneapolis, October 23-24 with Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Petersen (pictured right, photo by Kristoffer Ronneberg/News of Norway), former Vice President Walter F. Mondale, Governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty, and Norway's ambassador to the U.S. Knut Vollebaek among the speakers. The agenda for the meeting focused on the celebration of Norway's 2005 Centennial Celebration, and the Forum meeting set a record in number of delegates. The Norwegian American Foundation is secretariat for US Norway Forum.

marthasmall Sculpture of HRH Crown Princess Martha to Symbolize Gift to Norway in 2005- The Norwegian American Foundation has commissioned Kirsten Kokkin, a renowned sculptor born in Norway and now living in Colorado, to complete a life-size bronze statue of the late Crown Princess Martha (pictured left, Norwegian Official Photo). Plans call for the sculpture to be presented and installed on the grounds of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Washington D.C. on October 30th, 2005, 100 years after the United States, as the first of nations, acknowledged Norway as a sovereign state.
